Siege of Luthadel: Production Timeline

Hello backers!
As promised, we have a production timeline. Liya is currently telling us to expect the run to be complete around December 11th! Assuming this holds, we should be able to get the product on boats to our fulfillment centers in Australia, Europe, and the United States before Christmas.

What's Next?
We will continue to post monthly with updates through production. As you may remember from the base game production run, and you may know from other Kickstarters you follow, this period is usually pretty dull. Our December update will likely be too early for freight news, so you shouldn't expect to see that until January. Meantime...

Siege of Luthadel: Huzzah! Production Starts this Month!

Hello backers,
As we mentioned in the Comments section, we're a bit behind posting this month's update. Liya has been diligently working to establish a production timeline for us, but that was complicated by the Chinese national holiday this past week. We do not yet have that timeline, but we expect to have it well ahead of the next update. When we receive it, we'll post it as a comment to this update.
Otherwise, there isn't much to report this month. We're in the very final stages of pre-production now and expect the presses to get rolling this month. Soon enough, the Mistborn: House War expansion will be in your hands and on your game tables!
We will continue to post monthly with updates through production. As you may remember from the base game production run, and you may know from other Kickstarters you follow, this period is usually pretty dull. We may have some factory pictures and / or videos to share, or maybe not. Then there will be a long time when the expansions are on a boat. So please don't be surprised if our next update or two are pretty lean. Meantime...

Digital proofs reviewed & changes made! We're really close to go time now.

Hello backers!
Here we are at the top of September and we have good news all around. Since our last update, the digital proofs have arrived and been reviewed by everyone (Dragonsteel included), and just this week we've finalized all the print files except for the Problem cards. Alex is doing one more pass with those at the moment to make sure the quotes from the Mistborn novels are all correct. That should be done sometime this weekend, and then all the revised artwork goes to Liya.
There will be one more round of digital proofs because small changes were required to the box, board, rulebook, House sheets, and Problem cards. Nothing major though, so this last round of digital proofs will only go to our production manager for a quick once-over. Dragonsteel has fully signed off now, so once we have a thumbs up from Pat we'll give Liya the go-ahead to get the presses rolling!
Mistborn Pre-Orders are Live!
We're close enough to the finish line now that we're comfortable taking new orders for the expansion. This is something that we've been asked about a lot as there were many people who missed out on the original campaign and could not secure a copy after the pledge manager closed to new orders.

One of our backers expressed concern when they saw this page, so let's get ahead of the obvious questions...
Yes, (most of) these items are being offered at the same price that backers enjoyed during the campaign and in the pledge manager. It's common for new Kickstarter items to be offered in pre-orders way ahead of backers receiving their copies - generally alongside the factory run. That's what's happening here. Also remember that most pledge managers are open to the public and serve as public pre-orders.
Backer orders will be sent before pre-orders. Admittedly, with the number of units we'll be sending there won't be too much of a difference in timing, and it's possible that some pre-order customers closer to fulfillment centers will receive their copies before backers who are much further away, but rest assured that your products will go out first.

Manufacturing Update: August 2020

Hello everyone,
Progress! In the last month we've finalized everything through Liya and are now waiting for the "digital proofs" to arrive. These are actually physical proofs printed on a digital printer. They're large flat sheets displaying all the components in the game at the best output the factory can manage without firing up their $2 million Heidelberg offset printing press (which takes a full work day just to set up for a new job!).
We're told the digital proofs should arrive in about 2 weeks. Those will need to go to Dragonsteel as well, which is an amendment to our update from last month where we said we were through the final approval stage. Apologies for this. It was the result of a miscommunication at out end.
By the time we post next month's update, we should be in the middle of that (definitely final) approval stage, after which - assuming everything checks out - the assembly line will finally fire up!

Our current estimate still puts delivery in Q4 - likely November, perhaps December if the last round of approvals take a full month. It's also possible a new surge or outbreak could wreak havoc with production or freight. We will continue to update you monthly as we go.
Dollars to Donuts Kickstarter Ends August 10th
This is the last time we will mention this here, and we'll keep it brief. Our latest Kickstarter title, Dollars to Donuts, is a puzzly tile-laying game from the makers of the award-winning Point Salad (AEG), Calico, and other excellent projects. We're in the home stretch with it now, and encourage you to check it out if you fancy slightly abstract games with a quirky theme that let you play outside the lines.
Jigsaw overlays and a new game announcement

Hello backers!
Here we are at the top of July and much like last month, we only have a little to report. Manufacturing of a board game usually takes around four months, give or take, and with a Mistborn product it can rise to 5 months when we incorporate license approvals.
We cleared the final approval stage this past month, but the factory also discovered an unexpected issue with the board overlays. We had anticipated producing the overlays as actual boards, but the wrap would have created too wide a gap between vital play areas, so we had to switch to punchboards instead.
Liya is currently working with our graphic designer's files to create a series of "puzzle cut" punchboards that will interlock to form the new Vin's Journey, Support Pile, Spoils, and revised Pass the Turn spaces. They're also investigating ways we can potentially color the edges of the overlays black, so you don't have bare cardboard edges visible on top of your beautiful game boards.
This should be the last step before the assembly lines fire up for the print run. The miniatures and all other components have been green-lit and we're just waiting for this last piece to - ahem - fall into place.

One Last Thing, If We May...
We are always cautious of spamming folks, and we don't want to take advantage, but we're also a small outfit and can use all the attention we can get on everything we make. As Siege of Luthadel has been steadily chugging along toward the finish line, we've also been prepping another game that's entirely unrelated to Mistborn, but that some of you might find fun. We hope many of you will.
It's called Dollars to Donuts, it's by the creators of Point Salad & Calico, and it launches on Kickstarter on July 14th.
Manage your own donut shop and create beautiful collections of tasty treats in this tile-laying, resource management, set collection game that defies all borders.
Unlike most tile layers, Dollars to Donuts lets you work outside the lines. Any Donut tile can be laid in any orientation and even hang off the edges of your player mat! Points are scored for perfectly matched donuts, but even mismatches help because they earn you Dollar tiles you can spend to buy new Donut tiles on future turns.
Be careful not to leave too many spaces empty, though. Each unoccupied spot on your mat at the end of the game subtracts from your total score. Fortunately, some of those Dollar tiles can be played into single holes on your mat. They're the ones with donut holes on them, naturally.
Matched donuts can be served to picky customers to earn even greater points, and served customers also score based on the neighborhoods they're from. Serve the most customers from any one neighborhood, collect sets of customers from all the neighborhoods, or both!
Dollars to Donuts launches on Kickstarter on July 14th. We're ready to go with this title, but we're counting on our loyal fans and previous backers to help us determine how much we pack into the box. From new content to extremely premium physical upgrades, we're sparing no expense to make this an instant classic in your cherished collection.
