1000% Funded! Big Vin Miniature News!
almost 8 years ago – Thu, Jul 21, 2016 at 10:20:09 AM

Man, oh man... We’re speechless. What an amazing ride this has been.

Mistborn: House War is funded 10 times over! Every possible idea we had for the core game is becoming a reality! We’ve funded the first expansion! We’ve fully embraced exclamation points!

Most importantly, we have an amazing, supportive group of over 3000 backers with faith in this endeavor. Thank you so much, each and every one of you!

By reaching $300k we’ve unlocked the Slanderer in every copy of Mistborn: House War. That closes out funding for the core game but we’re not done yet! We’ve set our sights on the future and we’ve got a little surprise for you!

Vin Joins the Siege of Luthadel!

That’s right! Because you’re all amazing we have a special treat for you...

A Vin sculpted pawn (miniature) will now be added to every copy of The Siege of Luthadel for free!

There’s no upcoming stretch goal for this one. You’ve already unlocked it!

Like the Kelsier and Steel Inquisitor miniatures for the core game, the Vin miniature will be a 36mm sculpt based on the amazing art of Ben McSweeney (inkthinker to those of you following his work on 17th Shard or DeviantArt).

Ben’s also one of Brandon Sanderson’s concept artists, and the visionary behind the look of our very own Mistborn Adventure Game. He’s also a close friend and longtime colleague of Crafty Games.

We’ve dreamed of bringing Ben’s fantastic rendition of Vin to (plastic) life for years and with your help it’s now going to happen!

We imagine many of you will want to use Vin as a new Active Player marker (moving the Inquisitor to the Unrest track and freeing Kelsier up for metaphysical adventures elsewhere), but designer Kevin Wilson may have even better ideas for Vin once he digs into the Siege of Luthadel expansion. Only time will tell...

What’s Next?

We’re not done yet! The end of this Kickstarter is not the end of the campaign — it’s the beginning of another chapter. We’ve mentioned that a pledge manager will open up soon and...

Every pledge made here and in the pledge manager, all the way up to the point when we close the pledge manager down, will count toward development of The Siege of Luthadel, and beyond.

We can’t discuss the development goals for the expansion yet — because we haven’t started principle design work — but we also don’t want to leave you without another goal to strive for...

Once we hit $325,000 in total funding, we’ll add a second miniature to The Siege of Luthadel, again at no extra cost, and that miniature will be...

That’s right, campers... We’re already so close to a total of four miniatures between Mistborn: House War and its first expansion.

We’ll have more to say about The Siege of Luthadel in a month or two, once we’ve had a chance to sit down with Kevin Wilson and discuss the design. Please bear with us on that front, and know we’re committed to making Mistborn: House War and its expansion the very best products they can be.

And once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you one and all.

A very grateful Crafty Games team

How to Add an Add-On
almost 8 years ago – Thu, Jul 21, 2016 at 03:00:20 AM

The process is very simple. In the upper right corner of the Kickstarter - just under where it says how many backers and how much they've pledged and how much time is left on the campaign - it shows how much money you've already pledged.

After you click Change your pledge, you'll be able to change both the dollar amount you've pledged and the Tier at which you've pledged.

Simply increase the dollars pledged by the amount of the Add-Ons you wish to receive.

Example: You are a Prestige Backer and wish to also receive a copy of Mistborn: The Siege of Luthadel. Change your pledge from $100 to $130.

After the Kickstarter ends, our pledge manager (BackerKit) will import all the pledges from all backers. You will then receive an email asking you to tell us your shipping address and also tell us what Add-Ons you wanted.

Following our example... After you get the email from BackerKit, you'll log in and select The Siege of Luthadel Add-On via BackerKit.

Should I Add The Siege of Luthadel Now?

Yes. You should! :)

If we get to $250,000, we'll be able to get Kevin Wilson started on the design of The Siege of Luthadel immediately.

It is much more likely that we will get to $250,000 if backers who want The Siege of Luthadel increase their pledges by $30 now.

If you are nervous about increasing your pledge and 'overpaying' if we don't reach $250,000 know that you can always back out your $30 Add-On by the end of the campaign, using the same method above.

Backing now, though, will help us ensure we'll get to $250,000.

Every little bit helps!

The Final Sprint is Here! One Last Personality, and the Mists Part!
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Jul 20, 2016 at 04:26:03 PM

I’m starting to run out of adjectives for how excited we are by the show of support we’re seeing from all you great Mistborn fans in the last days of the House War campaign, so let’s leave it at – THANK YOU!

By reaching $280,000, we've now added the Con Artist to Mistborn: House War, but we’ve got one final Personality card we want to add to the House War before all’s said and done, a final rogue to round out the gallery…the Slanderer!

Is it dark in here, or is she just throwing crazy amounts of shade? This is another last-minute theft from the Mistborn Adventure Game – the final will be in full color and even prettier!
Is it dark in here, or is she just throwing crazy amounts of shade? This is another last-minute theft from the Mistborn Adventure Game – the final will be in full color and even prettier!

In Mistborn: House War, there are not many ways to gain Disgrace – you’ve got face-down Personalities like Heirs and Honor Hostages which can alter your score at the end of the game; a few other named Personalities that can earn Disgrace when played with their allied House; and of course a number of Problems which you often can’t control. The Slanderer is here to fix that:

Play when a player receives Favor.

Discard all Favor the target player would receive; they must take an equal amount of Disgrace instead.

Like the Con Artist, this card is still in early development and may change during playtesting, but conceptually it opens up a world of nasty possibilities. Someone pulling out too far ahead? Slap that smug noble with the Slanderer when they confidently solve a big Problem! What if you’re in the lead? Use the Slanderer to tear down your most threatening rival and protect your position. Trying to cause the Unrest to tilt? Target yourself with Slanderer to drive your own score down!

If we reach $300,000, we will complete, playtest, and add the Slanderer to every copy of Mistborn: House War for free! This is the final Personality we’ve got to add to the House War, but that’s not the end…not by a long shot!

The Mists Part, Revealing...

That’s right! We have plans and hopes for stretch goals beyond even $300,000, and what better way to start than with the biggest dreamer of them all – a miniature concept for the heroine of the Mistborn trilogy, Vin!

But where would a Vin mini appear? How would she be used in Mistborn: House War? More on that when we hit $300,000…

Surprise Stretch Goal! The Recruiter Personality!
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Jul 20, 2016 at 01:40:15 PM

First off – You. Are. All. AWESOME.

Maybe a little too awesome, in fact, since you’ve gone and run us out of all the stretch goals we had planned!

Since you guys have been so awesome, we’ve decided to repurpose a top secret promo card we had set aside for another purpose as a new (final?) stretch goal for the campaign. Meet the Recruiter!

Play on your turn.

Search the Personality discard pile for a card and place it in your hand.

The Recuiter’s rules are straightforward, but sexy. Since she can only be used to grab Personalities that have already been discarded, the Recruiter actually gets more powerful the later in the game you play her (since you’ll have a greater selection to choose from), letting you get exactly the right Personality you need to turn the tables on your opponents.

Of course, like all good cards, the Recruiter gets even better when you can find ways to get more Personalities in the discard pile. For instance, by playing the Recruter after using a Coinshot or Hazekiller, you’ll not only be able to knock out an opposing Personality but also be able to take it for your own use. And of course, should you find an allied named Personality in the discard pile, use the Recruiter to grab it and take advantage of its super Ally effect!

If we hit $265,000 in funding by the end of the campaign, we will add the Recruiter to every single copy of Mistborn: House War! So be like the Recruiter and spread good word in our last 36 hours!

Thanks again, gang!
